INCITE was given the extraordinary opportunity to bring The Shining to life for The Stanley Hotel’s Halloween events. For two nights, both the new opened event center, and the historic concert hall, needed to be transformed to bring out the spookier side of the Estes Park landmark . We sought to accomplish this, as well as service the fans of Stephen King’s classic novel, by recreating some of the famous scenes from The Shining in photo-ops and vignettes. We also brought in the talents of TBD Immersive to add a live element. Actors portraying characters from the book would interact with patrons and play games in side rooms and hallways. Perhaps the most popular element was a recreation of the famous bar from the Kubrick film, complete with a glowing bar top and back bar. Also, though out the event space, decor was altered and mangled, and lighting from artists Knomad Collab set the mood for a creepy evening. As a final touch, Nicole Banowitz provided some bacteria-inspired inflatables to frame the entrance to the haunted concert hall, as well as crawl across the ceiling during the Halloween celebration.
