The Denver Museum of Nature and Science reached out to INCITE to help create a new winter tradition. They wanted to produce a holiday takeover of the diorama wing where patrons could explore immersive art installations, enjoy fun activities and warm concessions, and see the classic museum displays in whole new light. We worked with the museum team from concept to execution, helping them to build a story that would take participants through different themed areas, including a welcoming fireplace lobby scene for guests to meet up, an aura borealis display for families to gaze at the stars, and a igloo disco party room for people to dance with some penguin pals. INCITE was in charge of designing and building a large number of scenic elements for these rooms, all with durability and flexibility in mind as the event not only lasted two months, but is also going to be repped annually, with new elements being added every year, creating surprises for returning guests. Some elements created for the inaugural year include a 12′ tall faux stone hearth, an 11′ tall “Baobab tree” made with different natural textures, faux fire pits with smoke effects, and 25 inflatable penguin dancers along with a 6′ tall disco ball snowman for the dance room.
